If you're a photographer with an account
We collect:
- Your name and email, via our sign-in provider (Clerk), to create and secure your account.
- The photos, videos, and event details (gallery name, client name, event date) you upload or enter.
- Payment confirmation from our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) — we know a payment succeeded and its amount, but we never receive or store your card details.
If you're a guest scanning a photo
You don't need an account to view a gallery or scan a photo. When you do scan one, we automatically record: the type of device you used, your approximate location (country/city, worked out from your network connection — not precise GPS), the time of the scan, and which page sent you there. This is used to show the photographer analytics about how their gallery is being viewed. We don't collect your name, and we don't ask you to create an account or submit any personal information directly.
Where data is stored
Account and gallery data lives in a Postgres database (hosted by Neon). Photos, videos, and the AR files generated from them are stored with Cloudflare R2. Short-lived technical data (like rate-limiting counters) passes through Upstash Redis. The app itself runs on Vercel.
Who else sees data
We use a small number of service providers to run Barwazi, and only share what each one needs to do its job: Clerk (accounts and sign-in), Lemon Squeezy (payment processing), Cloudflare (file storage), Neon (database hosting), Upstash (caching), and Vercel (application hosting). We don't sell data to anyone, and we don't share it for advertising.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in (set by Clerk) and a small cookie to remember your language preference. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep data
We keep account and gallery data for as long as the account exists. Individual photos can be removed from a gallery at any time from your dashboard. To delete your entire account and its data, or to request removal of a specific guest scan record, contact us — this isn't yet a fully self-serve process, so we handle these requests manually.
Photos of children
Event photos often include children, but Barwazi doesn't knowingly collect any information directly from children — guests (of any age) never create an account or submit personal information when scanning a photo. Responsibility for who's photographed and what's appropriate to share rests with the photographer uploading the content.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. If we make material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know before they take effect.
